Totally for fun…

Posted in Movies, Music & TV by charliedean on March 26th, 2008

Every year it happens…

The weather starts warming up, the sun roof gets opened,  and from somewhere deep inside of me this latent longing for hard rock emerges.  So here’s where the fun is…

At the risk of great personal embarrassment and loss of respect for the small degree of “coolness” that I may posses in ever-decreasing measure, I’ll open the floor to two kinds of comments:

1.  I will reveal my favorite guitar/rock song of all time after letting you guess for a while (I will provide clues in the comments as we move forward.)  At this juncture I will say that this song may not be my favorite song per se, but if I could  just turn off the vocals and listen to the band I would be a happy guy!

2.  Your favorite spring-time-windows-down rock song?

The Final Countdown… That song seriously makes you feel like a king (or queen) driving down the highway.

One of my favorites is the charismatic rock out song by Bon Jovi (Lay Your Hands On Me). Roll the windows down( I guess you don’t roll the windows down anymore) and crank it up!

    Zombie by Cranberries
    My Hero by Foo Fighters
    American Woman by Lenny Kravitz

no one’s close yet…the band hasn’t even been mentioned.

2 clues…and the second is probably a give away.

    1. five piece band (i think you get a much better rock sound with the extra rhythm guitar.

    2. i HATE the lead singer of the band. wish I could shut his voice off and listen to the band.

Love this post…my favorite would be…

“Sweet Child of Mine” Guns -n- Roses

    or

    “Back in Black” AC/DC

looking forward to seeing what your guilty pleasure is….

    WAY TO GO DALE!
    NAILED IT!

SWEET CHILD O’ MINE — GnR BABY!

Seriously…I wish I could muzzle Axl, but I could listen to Slash play all day long — and Sweet Child is amazing (not the lame radio version either!)

and yes, I am duly ashamed.

Sweet…can’t wait to get my prize in the mail…

There is a Guns and Roses song - could not tell you the name but - it had dolphins in the music video…. vague yeah…BUT it has the most amazing guitar by Slash -AND the most hideous “I want to die” vocals by Axl….
Same with November Rain. Slash really plays quite beautifully.

Estranged…yeah I just listened to an iTunes snippet and that guitar line that Slash plays is just amazing. Thanks to Charlie for having me searching through my teen roots….

i’ve heard “ironic” by alanis morissette twice today.

and both times i sang along.

    the sad part…

i wasn’t the only one singing along to it. the 80’s rocker dude at work said he loved jagged little pill.

i almost feel like making a post secret about that song.

jagged little pill will always be one of my favorite albums!
i have been listening to the anniversary edition of it the past week…good stuff

Playing Sweet Child O’Mine on Guitar Hero coupled with singing it into the mics in Sletten’s basement (without Axel) totally makes me feel like a Rockstar.

Smashing Pumpkins- 1979 Or if in the right mood, any Led Zepplin song.

  18. charliedean said, on March 29th, 2008 at 8:44 pm

see Summer…that’s what makes you cool and me lame… (and from the general tenor of the rest of the posts, everyone else is as lame as me)

cool people look to Smashing Pumpkins or Zep

dorks like the rest of us go to Guns n’ Roses or Bon Jovi.

Summer: if you like the Pumpkins, the “new” album is really good.
