Popularity Snob
So I’ve been told this by a friend for a while now, that I am a popularity snob. What she means is that I guess if something is popular I have a predisposition to rebel and not like it.
She’s right.
So, I’ve made a lot of fun of the whole “livestrong” bracelet things — and the bajillion (that’s like a gob of billions) of copycats.
Last week, I put on my first rubber bracelet. Mostly for 2 reasons. 1. I found an organization/cause that I really believe in, and 2. it’s a reminder to me not to forget.
What’s the bracelet? It’s a white bracelet that says ONE. I’ve blogged about the ONE campaign
before so I wont’ say anything more.
It wasn’t easy to put it on…my popularity snobbery made it very difficult.
[I've got several more in my office if you're interested.]

Kyle Lake
This is spreading across the web pretty quickly, but Kyle Lake, pastor of University Baptist Church in Waco, TX (their worship leader is a guy named Crowder), died yesterday when a microphone fell into the baptismal. He was 33. So sad.
Here’s some links that may give you more info…here, here, and here.

Note to Self…
Note to self: my boys will never be too old to hear an “atta boy” from their old man.
On Monday, I walked out of a meeting to see that my dad had called and left me a voicemail. All he said was that he was proud of me and what I’m doing with my life. 3 days later…still haven’t deleted the message. I don’t think I’ll ever be too old to hear that my dad is proud of me!
Sweet Butter!
Got my new guitar yesterday (link). Immediately took it into our auditorium and plugged it into our sound system (our auditorium seats about 1800, so the sound is hefty). It sounded like sweet butter! That is to say it was warm and large, and everything one could hope for from an acoustic guitar plugged in. Again, the Expression system by Taylor is just incredible!
Okay…no more posts about the guitar!

Review: Upside of Anger

A clip from this movie was shown in church a couple weeks ago that really ruined the key plot point to this movie, but I watched it anyway. It was really quite good. The older I get, the more I’m drawn to dramas that are rooted more in interesting characters than in extraordinary events. It’s a little slow in the middle, and you may wonder where it’s taking you, but I think there’s a pretty decent payout at the end. The narration at the end alone is worth the price of the rental.
Also, I have to say that after watching some of the special features, I’m a fan of Mike Binder, the director/director/producer/actor.
Forecast: another boy.

Well, the Deans went to the doctor on Friday for Jennifer’s sonogram and found out that we are having another boy. Many of you have asked. She’s due around the 1st week of March. The baby looks healthy and good.
I’d be lying if I didn’t say we’re not a little disappointed. We were really hoping for a girl. The hardest part was trying to answer Caleb’s disappointment. He’s been utterly convinced that he was going to have a little sister.
